I wish I had more time, I wish I had less time. I wish I could go back, I wish I could go forward. It’s a strange day. I am 13 days away from Ironman Lake Placid. It is the official taper day. My coach writes that now is a crucial time to use food as fuel, hydrate well, stay mentally strong. But the lull is killing me. It sets me in an uncomfortable place of questioning if I have done my best as I ran out of time to fix anything at this point. Yet I have no patience to see if I did my work.

Time is my enemy today. I can only hope that time will be on my side come July 27th.

  1. I feel the same way, I always want another month, I never feel if I trained enough, I have done 7 100 mile rides but didn’t get the 8th in and its killing me.!! I want more time to get in a few of those workouts i missed. on the other hand you get kinda burned out and just want to go out and do it and cross that finishline so I can just have fun and hangout-love hanging out AFTER the race…. BUT time to trust the training you’ve done and get all the small things ready… I think you’ll do great and have the time of your life!

  2. you’ve done the training and are prepared! enjoy your fitness:) would you trade the fitness you have now? would you trade the experience you’ve had training? if not, then trust and let it be. we are very priviledged to have the health and ability to participate in an ironman, no matter whether you go 10 hours or 17. breath and take it all in!
