Last night I had a hot date with a great 80’s gal. She put on her Obsession perfume and dolled me up in Claire bought hair glam and we headed to the Woodbury Ball for Autism at Carltun on the Park. Jodi introduced me to a very special cause that is near and dear to her a couple of years ago. Her son Evan is autistic and she spends most of her “down time” dedicated to raising awareness and fundraising for the special cause. It was time to push aside the bike and get into a dress for the night.
I met some wonderful people that my husband, Michael has worked with for sometime. Michael continues to be on his Six Day Race journey as he promotes his latest special project The Running Artist, racking up miles for autism. The Mayor of East Hills, NY was in attendance and Michael has worked with him on a wonderful art project Kids in the Park that will showcase a beautiful tile display handmade from local children this summer. I also met the parents of Emily Pearl whose beautiful artwork like the tote bag above, is just flying off the shelves.
It’s great to have fitness and life goals, like Ironman and ultramarathon running. But its even better when you can combine those goals with raising awareness and fundraising for an important cause. You can support the cause and Michael’s project here. Tote bags are $12 and t-shirts are $22. 50% of the proceeds goes directly to the artist. To purchase, check out the art shop here.
Now to my long run…
