It is now 4 months until Ironman Lake Placid. It seems like time is flying by as the hours of workouts on training peaks gets longer and longer every week. I am healthy and I am trying to stay focused. The one thing I can’t wrap my head around yet is where to place that darn M dot tattoo after I cross that finish line.
In my triathlon training journey, I have struggled, kicked and screamed at times. I have argued, I have listened, I have learned. I have lost count of how many times I have actually said to Coach Rich “you are right” as well as “how do you know everything”. At the end of the day, I am one lucky gal. I am surrounded by greatness. Team mates that are PRing half marathons, and crushing times at competitive races. A coach who is striving for greatness himself, yet offers so much of his time to his athletes so they can be their best. They are all inspiring to be around and get me out there on the rainiest of days, the coldest nights and the days when I just want to sleep in.
I drive about 30 minutes away to swim with my team when my local gym with a pool is 3 minutes away from my house. In the beginning of my training, I would say to Rich, just give me a workout and I will do it myself. No, CK to be great, you have to surround yourself with greatness. Words from the great John Madden himself. Understood.
